In 2009, iconic British rock band Oasis split up amid constant clashes between brothers and band members, Liam and Noel Gallagher. After years of turmoil, hopes for a reunion seemed all but lost, though, just over a year ago, the band made a move that shocked fans. On Aug. 27, 2024, the band announced a reunion tour that included dates throughout the United Kingdom, United States and several other countries.
On Sunday, Aug. 31 and Monday, Sept. 1, Oasis will be playing its first-ever show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The band’s Oasis Live ‘25 Tour occurs mainly throughout different parks of the United Kingdom, the home of the band, though three U.S. locations secured the chance to host them. Their first performance in the country will be on Aug. 28 in Chicago, with the Meadowlands set to follow and Los Angeles wrapping up their time here.
Built in 2010, following the band’s breakup, MetLife Stadium never got the chance to host Oasis, though now will be its first opportunity. Both concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m., with parking lots opening at 2:30 p.m. and gates opening at 5: 30 p.m. The event will be opened by rock band Cage the Elephant, who are respected artists in their own right, with millions of monthly listeners.
The event is one of MetLife Stadium’s most highly-anticipated, with tickets reselling for over $200 at its cheapest. Due to the anticipation, there will be an early merch day on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. between the MetLife and Verizon gates. There is also expected to be heavy traffic in the area as a result of the concert’s large turnout.
NJ Transit will be offering rail service from Secaucus Junction to Meadowlands Station beginning at 4:29 p.m, with the last train heading towards the venue scheduled for 8:47 p.m. The last train back following the concert’s end will be no earlier than 1 a.m.
Redd’s Bar and Restaurant in Carlstadt, New Jersey will also be offering an alternate method of arriving at the stadium, with a shuttle service that runs every five to 10 minutes throughout the duration of the event. The restaurant’s proximity to MetLife Stadium makes it just a two minute ride and an easy commuting option for fans looking to attend the concert.
The concert marks the Meadowlands’ last of the summer, with this being one of the best choices to end it on. Arguably the most highly-anticipated concert the venue has hosted in months, fans will be lined up for what is sure to be two sold-out shows this weekend.
