Jets, Giants Open Up 2025 NFL Season This Sunday

After months of waiting, the 2025 NFL season is right around the corner. Both teams from the Meadowlands will be taking the field this Sunday, Sept. 7 to kick off the season. For both teams, their games will begin at 1 p.m.

The 2025 NFL season has brought a significant amount of change to both teams’ rosters, with new quarterbacks for both of them. The Jets will be led by Justin Fields, who they recently acquired in the offseason. Fields brings a youth to the team that was lacking with Aaron Rodgers last year, hoping that his mobility can propel the team’s offense.

The New York Giants have a completely revamped quarterback room with Russell Wilson leading the way, while Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston follow behind him. Wilson’s veteran leadership paired with Dart’s potential has given many Giants fans hope entering the new season.

For many Jets fans, the ultimate goal is to find their way back to the playoffs, as their last appearance was in 2010, which currently stands as the longest active drought in the NFL. Under new head coach Aaron Glenn, the team will hopefully develop a winning culture that can lead them back to the success that they found in the late 2000s.

The Giants will also look to return to the playoffs, with their last appearance being in 2022. After going undefeated in the preseason, with three very impressive performances, the team will hope to build off that in the following months. Their new acquisitions at quarterback will lead the way as they head into the season searching for success.

The Jets’ first game comes with a headline that you can’t make up, as Aaron Rodgers takes the field at MetLife Stadium once again, now as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers isn’t the only one searching for a revenge game, as Justin Field was on the Steelers in the season prior. In its first game of the 2025 season, MetLife Stadium will hope to see a home team win.

The Giants will be on the road facing a divisional rival in their opening game. The matchup serves as a perfect test for the team to prove their transformation into a competitive roster against a team that went to the playoffs last year. After going 3-0 in the preseason, the team will look to keep the wins coming.
