Organizations providing workforce training and job placement services could be eligible for grants ranging from $500,000 to $800,000 to develop green economy training programs.
The Green Workforce Training Grant Challenge supports training in renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable manufacturing, and other green industries, said the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA).
Eligible applicants include community colleges, vocational training providers, nonprofits, and other entities offering skill development and workforce services. Grants cover design, planning, capital costs, and program implementation. The program prioritizes serving overburdened communities.

“The Green Workforce Training Grant Challenge Phase 2 is a competitive funding opportunity that will award grants to implement workforce development training programs that bolster the green economy talent pipeline in the state, with a particular focus on NJ’s Overburdened Communities,” according to the NJEDA website.
A total of $4 million is available for programs under this Grant Challenge through the Governor’s Council on the Green Economy. The minimum and maximum amounts for individual awards are set at $500,000 and $800,000, respectively. NJEDA anticipates making multiple awards in this grant challenge, subject to funding availability.
