Got Questions? WNYC Hosts NJ Gov. Sherrill for Live Call-In Show

Anyone with a burning question for New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill can tune in to a new, live segment on WNYC’s “Morning Edition,” with host Michael Hill.

“Ask Governor Sherrill” debuts tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15, and features a live call-in as part of an hour-long discussion of pressing issues affecting Garden State residents, according to a statement from New York Public Radio. Listeners can also email questions in advance.

“I promised to make the state government more accountable to the people of New Jersey, so I look forward to hearing directly from our residents, listening to their concerns, and answering their questions. I’m grateful to partner with our hosts to keep up this New Jersey tradition,” said Sherrill.

During the show, listeners can call in live at 844-745-8255 to speak with the governor. Questions can also be submitted in advance here. The program airs Wednesday at 7 p.m. on 93.9 FM, WNYC.org, and the WNYC app. It will also be available for live and on-demand streaming at wbgo.org, and whyy.org.

“Ask Gov. Sherrill” is produced in collaboration with WBGO in Newark, WHYY in Philadelphia and South Jersey, and Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.

“We’re proud to collaborate with Governor Sherrill’s office, our public radio peers at WBGO and WHYY, and Montclair State University to create a trusted forum for New Jersey and beyond. As a New Jersey native, Michael is the perfect host to bring forward the issues top of mind for the New Jersey audience. We are appreciative of Governor Sherrill’s support, enthusiasm and trust as we launch this program for the community,” said Christy Tanner, President & CEO of New York Public Radio, which includes WNYC.

Each show features a conversation with Sherrill about the latest state news, as well as direct questions from the audience via call-ins, social media, and online submissions. The show will broadcast live from the studios at Montclair State University, College of Communication and Media.

A second program is planned for June 3, and additional broadcasts will be announced at a later date, per the statement.

“Ask Governor Sherrill” continues WNYC’s tradition of offering New Jerseyans a direct line to their elected officials, according to the WNYC press release. It follows “Ask Governor Murphy,” which aired on the station for nearly eight years.

It also partners with and joins the lineup of “The Brian Lehrer Show’s” recurring segment, “Call Your Senator,” which featured appearances by U.S. senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim.
