New Jersey could hold the title of LEGOLAND North American Mini Master Model Builder, but people have to head over to Facebook by Monday, July 10 and vote to help ensure eight-year-old Tyler Matus beats his 13 nationwide competitors.
After winning the state competition at LEGOLAND Discovery Center at American Dream in East Rutherford, he’s now ready to go for the national title.
For the state win, Tyler showed an incredible display of craftsmanship with an intricate dream-verse battle of heroes and villains. For the nationals, Tyler turned his creative skills to his favorite vacation spot: the Jersey Shore.
Complete with an ocean, beach, boardwalk and amusement stands, Tyler’s replica of the Jersey Shore includes intricate details, like people riding the waves, walking across the boardwalk, eating snacks, playing ring toss and shooting arrows.
Matus, of Montville, now has a shot to win at the national level, but needs the help of Garden State residents who will go to the LEGO Facebook page and vote by “liking/loving/wowing the picture,” according to the page.
Tyler cites his inspiration for the build from the time he spends down the shore with his family every summer. He said his favorite part of the shore is winning prizes at all of the games that line the boardwalk.
New Jerseyans can support their local Mini Master Model Builder by voting for Tyler now through Monday, July 10, by 9 a.m. EST on the LEGOLAND Discovery Center New Jersey’s Facebook page.
The votes will be tallied up with the contestants at all of the other LEGOLAND Discovery Centers to crown North America’s Mini Master Model Builder.
After the countless hours Tyler has dedicated to his builds that have gotten him this far, he is now relying on the everyone’s support to snag the top prize and title.
Tyler is competing against winners from 13 other cities, including San Antonio, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Kansas City, Kansas; San Francisco, Arizona, and more.
