Meadowlands Exposition Center Hosts Beneath the Sea Expo 2026 This Weekend

From Friday, March 27 to Sunday, March 29, the Meadowlands Exposition Center will be hosting Beneath the Sea’s 47th annual Scuba Dive and Adventure Show, which brings the opportunity for guests to learn more about our oceans. The event has many different activities, including a careers program, celebration of women navy divers and a symposium.

Free Marine Careers Program

On Friday, March 27, the 16th annual Free Marine Careers Program will be taking place and is set to be hosted by George Buckley, an environmental consultant, educator and film maker. The event includes presentations by ocean industry experts and the opportunity to meet them.

To better prepare for a future in the industry, guests will learn what elements to include in a scholarship or internship application to increase their chances at success. Representatives from universities and local colleges will also be in attendance to discuss their marine and ocean education programs.

Additional fun activities include participating in a virtual reality environment, a scientific diving activity, commercial diving demonstration and looking at some of the most advanced equipment used by the industry. The event’s speakers include Jeff Bozanic, Anna & Ned De Loach, Christopher Drew, Joshua Gross, TreVaugh Ellis, Victoria Fulfur, Kenneth R. Hayes, Margo Peyton, Jacob Scoccimerra and Bobbie Scholley.

50th Anniversary Celebration of Women Navy Divers

Beneath the Sea will be joining the U.S. Navy in celebrating 50 years of women divers being in the Navy. Beneath the Sea will be celebrating Captain Barbara “Bobbie” Scholley, USN. When assigned to Aden, Yemen, she raised the USS Cole, which was sunk by terrorists and brought her back across the Atlantic.

Captain Scholley’s brave actions led to her being chosen as this year’s Legend of the Sea, being honored for her courageous work. By visiting the show, guests can learn from Captain Scholley and others what it means to be a woman Navy diver.

Symposium for Public Safety Divers: How to Work Together

This daylong program outlines the importance of safety in diving and how public safety divers can work with police officers. In situations such as drowning or vehicle recovery, law enforcement agencies may work with dive teams to properly respond to the situation. The collaboration between law enforcement and divers is essential in these cases and is important when addressing issues.

The seminar, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., costs $110 and includes lunch. The symposium will feature Joe Steyer from the Ulster County Sheriff Office, Skeeter Porter, a side scan sonar expert, Kyle Garrett, who will be discussing a newly designed program for divers to store information, Peter Gannon of Dive Rescue International and Walt “Butch” Hendrick and Andrea Zaferes of Lifeguard Systems, Inc.

The Beneath the Sea 2026 Expo offers the perfect experience for those interested in the marine industry. Through presentations, workshops and demonstrations, guests are able to get a better understanding of the industry. The event allows guests in and around the Meadowlands to improve their knowledge of the marine industry through educational and entertaining events.
