Meadowlands Racetrack Trots Out Spring Foodie Events

The Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment is once again trotting out a full calendar of popular food events. There is still time for restaurants, food trucks, and vendors to participate; reach out to Rachel Ryan, raryan@playmeadowlands.com to secure a spot. 

Steaks & Stakes Night May 18

First up for the spring season calendar is the second annual Steaks and Stakes on Saturday, May 18. Prizes will be awarded for the top 10 steaks, and the top five hot dogs and cocktails. Register here. Food trucks will be available as well.

BBQ Extravaganza June 15

On Saturday, June 15, the annual BBQ Extravaganza returns to the racetrack, sponsored by Knob Creek.  There will be $2,500 up for grabs in the Extravaganza with $500 top prizes being awarded for the best brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and people’s choice.

The event will run from 5-11 p.m. and fans are urged to come try some of the best barbecue in New Jersey. As another bonus, two lucky fans will win a spot at the judging table and help determine the best BBQ in each category.

Past food truck champions Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats, Antojitos de mi Tierra, and Latin Bites will all be at the event to defend their titles. Other trucks like Bitch’n Bacon, BBQ Grill, Cat Like Reflexes, Fire and Coal BBQ Grill, Green Dog Mobile, and so many more will also be attending.

Burger Battle July 13

The annual Burger Battle is happening on Saturday, July 13. The contest offers a $1,500 grand prize with $1,000 for 2nd place and $500 for third.

The best-tasting burger patty will also be awarded a $500 prize. There is also a $500 prize for the best-tasting burger patty. This free event runs from 5-11 pm and fans are encouraged to come out and taste some of the best local burgers.  Two lucky fans will win a spot at the Judging Table and help determine the top 3 burgers.

Some of the food trucks that have already signed up to compete in the Burger Battle include Antojitos de mi Tierra, Bitch’n Bacon, Carnival Concessions, Cat Like Reflexes, Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice and Ice Cream, DAW Concessions, Delicious Lola Josefa’s, Fire and Coal BBQ Grill, Freakin Empanadas, Green Dog Mobile, Latin Bites, Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats, Rolling Pita, Rods Fish and Chips, The Mozzarella God, The Why Not Burgerz, and Uncle Bob’s Kettle Corn.

Seafood Festival July 27

The beloved Seafood Festival is slated for Saturday, July 27 with the live race card featuring eliminations for the $1 million Hambletonian and $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks. Those in attendance will have a chance to grab some delicious seafood including fish tacos, lobster rolls, crab fries, fried clams, and much more. Already registered sellers include DAW Concessions, Eat My Balls, Fire and Coal BBQ Grill, Mike’s Smoked Meats, The Mozzarella God, and so many more.

This free event runs from 5-11 p.m. and two fans will win a spot at the Judging Table and help determine the top BBQ in each category.

Don’t Miss The Hambletonian
