NJ Transit Rail Strike Ends, Rail Service Resumes Today

NJ commuters breathed a sigh of relief this Tuesday morning, as NJ Transit rail service officially resumed following a strike that dragged on just a few days. The strike, which was caused by the failure to reach an agreement between NJ Transit engineers and the company, loomed for weeks. Though, it was Friday, May 16, when commuters’ worst nightmares became a reality and rail service was officially halted.

The return to normalcy seems to be a win for all parties involved, with the exception of commuters needing to find an alternate means for transportation for a couple of days. Engineers, who fought to earn wages similar to their counterparts in NYC, reached a deal that they were happy with. Commuters also don’t have to stress anymore about how they will be getting to work.

As NJ Transit returns back to its regularly scheduled programming, everything seems to be running smoothly. As ABC7 reported, there are “no issues” with the train services.

Though, less than a week without rail service, NJ Transit’s importance to commuters across the state was demonstrated in the wake of its absence. The quick and efficient agreement led to minimal hassle for NJ commuters, who can now travel as they please through the state’s public transportation.
