Players to Watch in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup: Maurício

With the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup coming to the United States, there will be a handful of talented players coming to the country and more specifically, the Meadowlands, who will be hosting several games. The region’s first game will be on Jun. 15 as SE Palmeiras takes on FC Porto. One of SE Palmeiras’ key players as they search for victory in the group stage match will be Maurício.

Maurício, an attacking midfielder or right midfielder for SE Palmeiras, is one of the club’s premier talents and will play a key role for them in the FIFA Club World Cup. In 8 matches in Campeonato Paulista A1 this season, Maurício has recorded 5 goals and 1 assist. This shows a significant increase in his performance in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, where he put up 3 goals in 20 matches last season.

He still has much time left to develop as a player, as he is just 23 years old, born on Jun. 22, 2001. The jump in his stats over the past two seasons shows that he is beginning to turn into one of the team’s best options on the field. As the season continues, he will hope to continue to build upon this good start. Once it comes time for the FIFA Club World Cup, SE Palmeiras will hope that they can turn to him as one of their players to lead them to the championship.

For Maurício, playing in São Paulo is nothing new, as he was born there. Though, he wasn’t a fan of the club as a child, to play close to where you grew up is a dream for many young footballers.

As SE Palmeiras prepares to take on FC Porto later this year for a group stage match at MetLife Stadium, Maurício will be one of the key players to look out for on the pitch. With his impressive performance thus far in the new season, he will hope to build upon it in the months leading up to the tournament.
