Hunter Myers: Rising Star, Tragic Accident

Myers, 27, was called a “rising star” in the harness racing world and was ranked as one of the top 10 drivers in North America. He died on Wednesday, March 19 after injuries sustained in an accident during the 11th race at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Myers was driving Always B Royalty when Uptown Callie (driver Dave Palone) made a break before three-quarters that “triggered a chain reaction spill that impacted five horses in total,” according to Daily Racing Form. Myers was thrown from his vehicle as another driver crossed in front of him. The other drivers and horses involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. Myers was airlifted to Allegheny General Hospital where he died of his injuries the day after the accident.
