Are you ready for it? Popstar Taylor Swift is expected to attend her second Kansas City Chiefs game, this time at Metlife Stadium in the Meadowlands, East Rutherford, New Jersey.
As her rumored relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce heats up, so do the prices of his NFL jersey and tickets where he’s playing.
Where Taylor Swift Goes …
Not too long ago, more than 80,000 fans were filling up MetLife Stadium to see Taylor Swift perform live as part of her Eras Tour. Now, just a few months later, Taylor Swift is continuing to draw fans to MetLife, though this time it is not for a performance.
Instead, it is in anticipation of her appearance at the Jets game this Sunday to root on the Chiefs and her rumored new boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
In a move that broke the internet, Swift announced her new relationship by attending the Chiefs game last Sunday while donning a red Travis Kelce jersey and sitting next to Donna Kelce, Travis’ mother.
While last week’s appearance was a surprise, this week, it seems all but certain that the pop phenomenon will be making her second consecutive appearance at a Chiefs game.
The Big Game on Sunday
A matchup between the Jets, who always draw a crowd, and the Chiefs, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions, was sure to bring in great numbers, but with rumors swirling of Swift’s potential appearance, ticket sales have catapulted.
According to SeatGeek, there was a 26% increase in the average price of a ticket for the Chiefs-Jets game the day after Swift made an appearance at the Chiefs game. The price rose from $168 on Sunday to $212 on Monday. The number has steadily begun to climb and as of Wednesday managed to reach $245.
On StubHub, almost 20% of all tickets sold for the Chiefs-Jets game took place after Swift’s appearance last Sunday. The game has also become the second-highest selling matchup of the weekend, only trailing behind the Cowboy-Patriots game.
It’s anticipated that the Sunday night game could become one of the most-watched in recent memory, with football fans and Swifties alike coming together to watch the game.
