Valley National Bank has doubled its Chicago office space as it marks two years of growth in the Midwest. The regional bank, headquartered in New Jersey, moved into a 10,000-square-foot space at 1 N LaSalle Street, up from 5,000 square feet, to accommodate a team that has grown twentyfold in the past year.
The expansion comes under the leadership of Matt Weidle, First Senior Vice President and Midwest Regional President, who took the helm in May 2023. Valley entered the Chicago market through its 2022 merger with Bank Leumi USA and has been scaling its Midwest presence ever since.
Weidle, who previously led a $2 billion loan portfolio at Bank of the West, has grown the Chicago-based team from two to more than 40 financial professionals. Under his leadership, Valley increased regional deposits by 80 percent and boosted commercial loans by 64 percent in 2024.
“Our team has made huge strides in two years,” said Weidle. “This new office gives us room to grow and keep building our Midwest and Great Lakes presence.”
The Chicago office serves key industries including transportation, manufacturing, metals, and food and beverage. It also delivers a range of services including commercial and industrial lending, real estate financing, asset-based lending, and wealth management.
The bank plans to host a grand opening celebration at the new office later this summer.
Weidle’s team has also made community service a priority. Valley partners with local nonprofits and schools, including Junior Achievement of Chicago, Feed My Starving Children, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, and Arrupe College.
