In a unanimous decision by the Felician University Board of Trustees, Dr. Mildred Mihlon has been appointed as the institution’s seventh president, succeeding her previous role as Acting President since April 2023. The announcement was made by Jim D’Agostino, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
The selection process, overseen by a presidential search committee led by Trustee Joseph Boccassini, attracted strong contenders nationwide. Dr. Mihlon emerged as the top choice among three finalists, impressing the committee with her extensive leadership experience and commitment to Felician University’s mission.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Mihlon at the helm as we navigate the future of Felician University,” stated Mr. D’Agostino. “Her remarkable achievements in higher education, coupled with her dedication to our institution’s values, make her the ideal leader for this pivotal moment.”
With nearly 25 years of experience in higher education leadership, Dr. Mihlon brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role. Her background includes positions at Catholic-based and Minority-serving institutions, reflecting her commitment to diversity and inclusivity in academia.
Prior to joining Felician University, Dr. Mihlon served as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, where she spearheaded innovative initiatives and secured significant grants amidst the challenges of the global pandemic.
Expressing gratitude for her appointment, Dr. Mihlon remarked, “I am honored to lead Felician University into its next chapter. With a strong foundation established by the Felician Sisters, we will continue to uphold our reputation for academic excellence and student success.”
Dr. Mihlon holds a PhD in Educational Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She previously served as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs & Assessment at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ. She is also a devoted wife and mother of two sons, David and James.
