Madonna, Shakira, BTS to Headline World Cup’s First-Ever Halftime Show at Final

Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will headline FIFA’s first-ever World Cup halftime show on July 19 at the final at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

While the FIFA rules allow 15 minutes for a halftime break (sans entertainment), it’s expected that this World Cup show, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, could take longer. Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will perform, and then time is needed to transform the field.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is curating the half-time show in collaboration with Global Citizen. Shakira’s official World Cup song, “Dai Dai” is scheduled to drop to the public on Thursday, May 14. She reportedly teased some tracks on Instagram.

FIFA announced earlier that each host nation (Mexico, Canada, and the United States) will feature opening ceremonies with entertainment. J Balvin for the game between Mexico and South Africa, Michael Buble and Alanis Morissette for Canada against Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Katy Perry and Lisa for the USMNT opener against Paraguay.
