The FIFA World Cup may have just ended, but the Meadowlands is staying in the sports mood, switching from one football to another. Both the New York Jets and Giants will be starting their 2026 training camps on Tuesday, July 28. Training camp serves as a way for all 32 NFL teams to prepare for the upcoming season, which is now just over a month away.
The New York Jets will be training at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. While attendance will be limited due to ongoing renovations taking place at the training center, fans can still watch parts of training camp that will be streamed online.
For the New York Jets, training camp will be a big moment in many different ways, serving as the first time that fans can see new quarterback Geno Smith take the field in a Jets uniform since 2016. Smith is not the only former Jet returning from a long hiatus, as linebacker Demario Davis will also be suiting up for the team for the first time since 2017.
Not only are there familiar faces returning to the team, but there are also many new players that will be making their first appearances with the team. Many of these new players are the young stars that were taken in the 2026 NFL Draft, including David Bailey, Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr., who were all taken in the first round. With lots of young talent seeing their first playing time in the NFL, this proves as the perfect way to get them acclimated for their rookie season.
The New York Giants will also be starting their training camp on Tuesday, July 28, playing at The Greenbrier Resort Sports Performance Center in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. As the Giants’ current training facility undergoes renovations, the team will be practicing in West Virginia, making it difficult for fans in the Meadowlands to catch the team in action as training camp begins.
Similarly to the Jets, the New York Giants have many young, up-and-coming players for fans to keep an eye out for as the season approaches. In the 2026 NFL Draft, the team picked up Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa in the first round, giving fans even more young talent to be excited about. The new draft picks will be paired up with Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo and the countless other young stars that create the Giants’ roster.
However, perhaps more discussed than the team’s new player is their new head coach, John Harbaugh, who will be entering his 19th season as an NFL head coach. The first 18 seasons were spent as the coach of the Baltimore Ravens, which saw him win a Super Bowl during his time there, but Harbaugh will now be entering his first season as the coach of the New York Giants. With the success that Harbaugh had brought to the Ravens, the expectations are high in the Meadowlands.
The 2026 NFL season is set to begin in a little over a month, with both the New York Jets and Giants calling MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey home. Both teams have made significant moves throughout the off-season, leaving fans with much to be excited for and look forward to as the season’s beginning approaches.
