Soccer Continues in the Meadowlands with Premier League Summer Series Weeks Away

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup recently wrapped up at MetLife Stadium less than a week ago. The soccer tournament brought excitement and competitiveness to the region, though it was just the beginning of the sport’s overtaking of the area for the next year.

The 2025 Premier League Series is returning to the United States, with MetLife Stadium set to host the opening set of matches. This is just the second rendition of the tournament, which debuted in 2023. The tournament featured a match in New Jersey at the Red Bull Arena, though now it will be taking place at MetLife Stadium. The competition takes place over the span of three sets of matches, with the first pair occurring at MetLife Stadium.

The four competing teams are AFC Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United and West Ham United. In 2023, four different teams competed, with Chelsea emerging as the champions. Ironically, Chelsea were the same team to win this year’s FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium.

The tournament is a pre-season friendly tournament, with much less pressure lying on the teams. It serves as a way for the players to get acclimated before the season begins, while putting on a show for the fans.

Going off the 2024 Premier League standings, AFC Bournemouth finished with the best record, sitting at 9th place. The team had 15 wins, 11 draws and 12 losses, which was more wins than any of the other three competing teams. However, the games will all still remain competitive.

MetLife Stadium is set to host two games on the same day on July 26. The first match will be Everton vs. AFC Bournemouth at 4 p.m., with Manchester United vs. West Ham United following at 7 p.m.

The first matches will be held at MetLife Stadium, with the other two pairs of games being played in Chicago followed by Atlanta. The Meadowlands will set the stage for how the remainder of the tournament progresses, looking to build off its momentum from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
