On Saturday, May 9, the Meadowlands Racetrack will be hosting its Best Burger Battle to crown the most delicious burger that the region has to offer. Local joints from across the Meadowlands will be competing for cash prizes and the title of Best Burger.
The event is open to all food trucks and restaurants in the area that think they have the best burger in the Meadowlands and are willing to put that to the test. Competing joints will be fighting for a share of $3,000 in cash prizes that are available to participants that perform well. The grand prize includes $1,500 to the first place winner, $1,000 to second place and $500 for third place. There will also be a $500 prize to the joint that is crowned with having the Best Tasting Patty.
The event is set to take place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The Backyard at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Entrants are required to be ready by 4 p.m. and are allowed to sell additional items outside of just burgers. A variety of food trucks, serving food from ice cream to empanadas to bbq will be in attendance at the event, providing guests with other bites.
Participating vendors are required to pay a $100 entry fee to be eligible to compete. Entrants are also required to prepare six burgers for judging at 7 p.m., which can include any combination of meat and toppings. Judging for the event will be 60% based on taste, with the remaining 40% being judged on presentation.
